Get the Most out of your Business Listing on BetterBizList.com

Avoid the common mistakes people make when posting their business on BetterBizList.Com. This article will walk you through the best features and how to post properly. These tips will help you earn more with your listing!

BetterBizList.com offers you better ways to get your business name out on the internet. We find the biggest barrier to our customer’s success is their reluctance to take advantage of everything we have to offer.

First of all tasking a showcase ad pays big dividends. Free listings are nice for dipping your toe in the water of internet advertising. If someone is looking for you by name, they will eventually find you through free advertising listings. If you are looking for people to find you when they aren’t necessarily looking for you, or better yet if they are looking for the competition, then Showcase ads are the way to go.
Our showcase ads get 100 times the hits of free listings. They get 12 times the hits of our premium listings. There are a few reasons for this. Showcase ads offer these features:

• SHOWCASE LEVEL LISTINGS ARE ROTATED ON HOME PAGE FOR MAXIMUM EXPOSURE
• Showcase level listings appear in search results above Premium, Basic and Free listings
• Contains Detail View and Summary View
• Title, Logo Image, Address, Phone, Fax, Web Link, E-Mail Link, Summary Description, Detail Description, Send to a Friend, Add to Favorites, Print, Map, Designation Icon, Coupon, Ratings and Reviews, Photo Gallery, Contact Form, Video Snippet.
My favorite items that showcase listing offer is video snippets which allows you to take a few minutes to explain your product and service to the general public. Video is an entertaining way to get your message out. You put your video on U-Tube and put the code or link in our posting area. If you don’t have a video you can put your logo or an image of your business. The photo gallery we offer allows you’re to present a slide show of your products or services. When you take a showcase ad you also have the ability to post a promotional offer as part of the listing, which give you another ad that rotates on the front page giving you twice the exposure on our homepage. These promotions are printable by the consumer allowing them to use them a physical location if desired.
You can offer a contact form, application or brochure in a PDF, DOC, and TXT, JPG or GIF file. This allows you give your prospective customer something to walk away with that creates a call to action.

Send to a friend is offered in our Showcase and premium listings. Many times a shopper is shopping for a boss, spouse, friend or family member. This feature allows them to send your information to them with a click. This is a form of viral marketing that helps you get your name out there. Premium and showcase ads offer more ways to let potential customers contact you. They have access to your phone, fax, web link, e –mail and contact form, as long as you provide it.

Let’s go through how to post a listing.
The Title is not your business title. This is where you post the business name. Like:
ABC Corporation - Widget Sales

Next is email address: Post an email address that you actually use. If someone tryst to contact you and you don’t answer it you can’t make any sales.

URL and URL Optional should be filled in with your web address, unless you don’t have one. Use the full format like http://www.betterbizlist.com
My advice is to post everything you can to get shoppers to contact you. Less is not more in this case.

Next is phone and fax. Both of these are important. I know that many internet businesses don’t like to offer these forms of communication, but it tells the consumer you are a permanent fixture in the business community, and that you actually have customer service. Not having this information limits you baby boomer and senior citizen sales.

Address Line is often overlooked because internet businesses don’t like to show physical locations. My experience is that consumers like to know where you’re located before doing business with you. A physical address is important.

Select your country, which on this site is the United States 9 out of 10 times. When picking the state use the abbreviated form like NY or NJ. If you don’t see the city in our database you can scroll down a couple of lines and add it, where it says: Click here if you do not see your city. Then add your zip code. The physical address is the place where most of our customers don’t enter all of there information. At the very least put your City, State and Zip. Our database allows people to sort by these three items and if you don’t enter city State and Zip. They can’t find you by location.

If you are not using a video snippet you can post a picture, logo or image where it says: Image Source. You can browse you computer by clicking the browse button. Find the picture you would like to post to the site. For a sharp undistorted picture make sure it is sized to 300x250 pixels. The format should be JPG or GIF. Click on the picture you like and it is uploaded onto the site for you.

If you are going to post a video snippet, go to the Video Snippet code area. Copy the code from where you posted the video on U-Tube and paste it in the code window under the image area. It’s that easy. Don’t miss out on this video functionality. People like to watch videos on the internet and if you’re not using this feature you’re missing out on clicks.

Next, you should add your Summary description. You have 250 characters to capture your prospects interest. Use it wisely. The summary description is a powerful tool of you use it to make our shoppers click out of curiosity.

Our Details Description allows you to use almost unlimited text to explain your business. But remember a potential customer will only read so much. Leave some whitespace to make it pleasing to the eye. And remember that you still have important visuals at the bottom like your picture gallery and reviews so don’t make you description too long.

My advice is to post everything you can to get shoppers to contact you. Less is not more in this case. BetterBizList.com uses a powerful php database. This allows you to add 10 keywords or phrases to help our shoppers to find you. If you don’t add keywords the only way they can find you is by name and category. Don’t limit your search ability by skipping keywords. Remember a key phrase like: womens shoes is two key words. You can only use 10. Use them wisely. When posting these words don’t use capital letters or punctuation marks. The search engines don’t see them.

Hours of work and locations are self explanatory. Use them as you see fit.

Categories are very important. The choices you make here allow your potential customers to find you. Showcase listings allow you to pick 6 categories where customers can find you. For example if you are advertising an amusement park you would probably choose:

Entertainment/Amusement Parks

You could also add:
Entertainment/Entertainment Promotions
Entertainment/Ticket Sales
Things to Do Outside
Sports & Recreation/ Outdoor Attractions
Sports & Recreation/ Miscellaneous Recreation

That would give you 6 categories where you could be seen. Premium listings offer five categories down to 3 categories for free listings. Additional categories are $5.00 for each additional category.

Once you’ve picked your categories you should make sure all required fields are filled in. the more fields you fill in the better listing you’ll have. It takes a few minutes to fill in the information but this listing information will be on BetterBizList for a year or more. Take the time to do it right and it will pay big dividends.
